Embodied Movement Is Vital

Your body is the most precious aspect of your human experience. Yet, most times it’s neglected, not listened to, or considered.

Have you ever noticed how dancers have a certain sensual nature that most people don’t have? Most of it has to do with the fact that dancers are deeply connected to their body. Their art is their body; the way they move is how they express themselves. Just like a painter uses brushes, a dancer uses the body to create their art, and this is how they are demonstrating embodied movement.

When you don’t feel well in your body, confident, or healthy, it affects everything else in your life, and if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.

Embodied Movement keeps you healthy.

Your body is meant to move. As a child, I’m sure you intuitively moved without ever thinking about it as exercise. Movement was fun and gave a sense of freedom.

Think of a child beginning to crawl or walk. The amount of new-found freedom is incredibly obvious, you can feel the joy spilling out of them as they discover their body in a new way.

As we “grow up”, discovery and curiosity is lost.

We find ourselves behind desks, in chairs, and in cars, needing to sit still and behave. All of this suppresses our natural way of movement and we start getting stuck in our body. The aches and pains begin, the lack of flexibility is more noticeable, and then come the fear and lack of trust in our body’s ability.

Over time, we stop doing physically-engaging activities and we lose the feeling of our own body.

Physiologically, movement is the way the lymphatic system functions. This incredible system is in charge of taking the toxins out of your body. But, unlike the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump (AKA heart) that moves it. The lymph is moved by you moving. When the lymphatic system isn’t functioning, the toxins get stuck and clog up the entire system. No es bueno!

What is Embodied Movement?

Now, it’s important to note that when I use the word MOVEMENT, I’m not referring to a “workout” or “exercise program”. In fact, I believe the fitness industry has done a disservice to the way our bodies are meant to move. It has also created unrealistic standards of the body type or look that we have to have in order to move our body. I don’t like this aspect of the fitness world.

I have been intimidated many times walking into a gym or fitness class because I don’t have that perfect “fitness” body. That all changed when I discovered my yoga teacher who was more of a conscious movement teacher. It was in his training that I discovered the art of Embodied Movement.

Embodied Movement is functional, conscious, sustainable and connected to intuition.

My movement philosophy is deep connection with my body to move freely and with conscious awareness for the rest of my life, without aches, pains, or limitations.

I want to work WITH my body, NOT AGAINST it.  So much of what I’ve learned about my body is that I want it to be ABLE and MOBILE to do the things I want it to do.

Movement builds a relationship with your body in a way nothing else can.  Movement is the body’s language. You must allow it to express itself.

Why is movement important for your erotic life?

Well, first of all, sex is a physical act. The more you feel good in your body, the more pleasure and joy you will have during sex.

Second, getting into sensual movement will enhance how you connect during sex. The way you move will translate into the way you move with another person.

Finally, the health of your body is directly related to what you’re able to do in the bedroom. Your confidence gets higher when you feel confident and connected to your body.

Because I believe that EVERY BODY is meant to move in a conscious way, I am starting to offer EMBODIED MOVEMENT ONLINE CLASSES

After many years of studying movement through yoga, barre, dance, pilates, TRX, kickboxing, and various sports, I’ve developed movement classes that use only your body weight to get tone, flexibility, and most importantly, CONNECTION TO YOUR BODY.

Each class is via ZOOM, so you can join from the comfort of your home or workout space. Also, if you can’t make it to the live class, don’t worry, they will all be recorded and will be available for download. If you’re interested in learning more, CLICK HERE.
